Forbes and Statista ranked Neighborhood Credit Union among the best in Texas using a survey of 26,000 consumers and 1.2 million online reviews. CEO Chet Kimmell credited the credit union's mix of digital tools and personal service.
Neighborhood Credit Union made Forbes' America's Best-In-State Credit Unions list for 2026, the only Texas credit union to earn the designation based on member satisfaction and trust.
The Dallas-based not-for-profit was ranked using an independent survey of roughly 26,000 U.S. consumers plus more than 1.2 million public online reviews collected between February 2023 and March 2026. Forbes and Statista, the research partner, scored institutions on trust, customer service, digital tools, financial advice, and likelihood to recommend.
CEO Chet Kimmell said the recognition reflects the credit union's dual focus on digital convenience and personal relationships. "As a not-for-profit organization, we're deeply committed to serving our members – with up-to-date digital convenience and also the neighborly relationships that are so important," he said in a statement.
Neighborhood Credit Union operates 16 branches across seven Texas counties – Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Grayson, Kaufman, and Tarrant – and holds more than $1 billion in assets. Membership has grown to nearly 70,000 over its 96-year history.
The credit union has been investing in technology over the past year, adding digital banking tools aimed at helping members manage their finances. The Forbes list was published June 17.
