Michelin launched two tire lines in Vietnam on Aug. 14, the Primacy 5 Energy for family cars and the Pilot Sport 5 Energy for high-performance models. The company said it developed both for drivers shifting to hybrids and electric vehicles, pushing performance and efficiency further without weakening durability.
Primacy 5 Energy, positioned in the premium segment, earns an 'AAA' rating, the top mark on the European Union's tire label in all three categories. Michelin said the design pairs Silent Rib Gen 3 with Piano Acoustic Tuning to quiet the cabin, and Slim Belt construction uses a thinner belt layer and less material while holding durability. Lower rolling resistance trims fuel use in combustion-engine cars and stretches range in electric vehicles, the company said.
Pilot Sport 5 Energy reaches an 'AA' rating for wet grip and energy efficiency. Dynamic Response technology sharpens steering response, and a dual-compound tread splits grip and efficiency duties, Michelin said.
Both lines share MaxTouch, which Michelin said spreads forces across the contact patch to limit uneven wear.
Primacy 5 Energy is offered in 30 sizes, covering the Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid, Corolla Cross Hybrid, Innova Cross Hybrid, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Mazda CX-8 and VinFast VF 8. Pilot Sport 5 Energy comes in 20 sizes for the BMW iX3, Mercedes-Benz GLC 300, Lexus LS 500, VinFast VF 7 Plus and the electric Porsche Macan. Toyota alone takes three of the Primacy fitments, all hybrids, and VinFast appears on both lists.
