Metal Hawk won two contested ballots for exploration licences at Mt Percy, expanding its position along the Keith-Kilkenny Shear Zone in WA's northeast Goldfields.
Metal Hawk (ASX:MHK) picked up two new exploration licences at its Mt Percy gold project southeast of Leonora in Western Australia, winning contested ballots for both blocks.
The project now covers four tenement applications across more than 289 sq. km of ground along the Keith-Kilkenny Shear Zone (KKSZ), a major crustal-scale structure in the northeast Goldfields. The zone hosts or sits near several multi-million-ounce gold deposits, including Northern Star Resources' Porphyry mine 30 km to the south and Saturn Metals' 2.8 million ounce Apollo Hill project about 30 km northwest of the Mt Percy applications.
"This ballot victory at Mt Percy is a major win for Metal Hawk shareholders," managing director Will Belbin said. "The additional tenure cements our position along the KKSZ and strengthens our pipeline of exploration targets across the northeast goldfields."
The expanded acreage gives Metal Hawk a second exploration pillar in the region, complementing its more advanced Leinster South project about 150 km to the northwest in the Agnew-Lawlers belt. The company is running comprehensive reviews of historic open-file geochemical and geophysical data across the new blocks.
Gold mineralisation along the KKSZ occurs in structurally controlled shear-hosted deposits in mafic rocks and high-grade zones tied to intrusive contacts. The company is also preparing for the next round of RC drilling at Leinster South, due to start imminently.
MHK shares held at 4.4¢ before the open, giving the company a market cap of about $5.4 million.
