Maine Garden Update: Tomatoes and Beans Ready

A brief rain shower yesterday afternoon broke a dry spell. The four raised beds in the back garden are producing well.

Thirty-two tomato plants were planted this year. Every plant now has fruit. The Roma tomatoes in particular are gaining size. The author expects a large salsa yield if the season continues.

Green beans are nearly ready. A few have been sampled already. The full harvest should begin in two to three days.

Sweet peppers are filling in. Jimmy's and jalapeno varieties are visible. Other pepper varieties have not yet shown fruit.

The first zucchini of the season is expected to be ready for picking tomorrow.

Basil is abundant across three locations in the yard. The author plans to share with neighbors and make pesto.

Six cabbages were planted. Five look healthy. One appears questionable.

Carrots are slow to develop. No timeline was given for their harvest.

No yields were reported for the remaining pepper varieties.
