Everest, based outside Philadelphia, built a reputation in Pennsylvania and beyond for handling complex, high-end litigation work. The combined company now has more than 1,100 employees, 4,000 court reporters, 2,000 interpreters and 100 litigation consultants.
Jason Block, Magna's chief operating officer, said Everest "built a business that is highly respected by its clients." He added that Magna sees "tremendous opportunities to build on their success."
Everest founder Daniel Cotilla will remain as a consultant for the next 12 months. He said the merger was "an easy decision" because Magna shares the same commitment to service and client relationships.
Everest clients will now get access to Magna's full suite of services, including document translation, medical record retrieval, social media surveillance and jury consulting.
Mark Williams, Magna's CEO and president, said the combination reflects what the company looks for in a partnership: "strong client relationships and a shared commitment to service."
The acquisition was led by John Brownschidle, Magna's head of M&A. Everest President Jennifer Luu will continue with the business and help integrate Everest clients into Magna's sales organization.
