Longwave Financial, an independent RIA, acquires Seattle-based MG Financial, adding a $1B AUM firm and deepening its Pacific Northwest presence after the Bellevue Spectrum merger.
Longwave Financial, an independent registered investment advisory firm, has acquired MG Financial, a Seattle-based RIA founded by Maris Galins in 1994. The deal adds a firm built over 30 years around personalized financial planning and ESG investing, and marks Longwave's second Washington State transaction this year after its January merger with Spectrum in Bellevue.
The acquisition brings MG Financial's clients into a firm approaching $1 billion in assets under management. Galins spent more than a year searching for a buyer who would maintain the one-on-one, trust-based approach that defined his practice.
"Choosing a successor was the most critical decision in my retirement," Galins said in a statement. "I was looking for a firm that would treat my clients the way I always have, with the same level of care and attention they've come to expect. After an extensive search, I found that in Longwave."
Eric Chaney, a partner and senior financial adviser in Longwave's Bellevue office, will lead the client relationship. Chaney joined Longwave through the Spectrum merger and has spent his career serving families and business owners in the Puget Sound area.
"Maris knows his clients' financial lives inside and out, and he didn't hand that off lightly," Chaney said. "When my own firm joined Longwave in January, I stayed right where I was – same clients, same relationships, more resources behind them. That's exactly the experience I want to bring to Maris's clients."
Nathan Munits, CEO and founder of Longwave Financial, said the Pacific Northwest has become a region where the firm is "putting down real roots." He added: "Maris spent 30 years doing this work the right way -- deeply personal, no shortcuts. That's exactly the kind of practice we want to carry forward."
Longwave, which serves clients from offices in New York City, the Hudson Valley and Bellevue, now has a growing West Coast presence across Washington State. The firm is a member of US SIF and a partner of 1% for the Planet.
