Mathur later shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp message from a PAUL India representative. The representative said he had tried to call and wanted to "discuss and personally apologise" for the "unfortunate" experience. The outlet was investigating, the message said, to "ensure it is not repeated."

Mathur dismissed the apology as a "standard draft reply" and said PAUL was trying to "apologise and move on." He noted that other customers had shared similar experiences. "Since many of you have also shared similar experiences at PAUL outlets, it seems they don't take things seriously at all and are confident that their outlet will continue to do business irrespective," he wrote.

Other social media users posted their own complaints. One user said staff had reused unwashed glasses. Another said, "Paul is one of my favourites. I will stop going there now." A third netizen noted that worm infestations are common during the monsoon and said people should avoid eating leafy vegetables out during the season.

PAUL is a French bakery chain with multiple outlets in India.
