Lindt & Sprüngli UK is rolling out its first 100% cocoa dark chocolate bar in the British market, extending the EXCELLENCE range that already includes 70%, 85%, 90% and 99% variants.
The new Lindt EXCELLENCE 100% Cocoa Dark Chocolate Bar arrives as consumer preferences shift toward darker chocolate. Online searches for dark chocolate have surpassed those for milk chocolate over the past 12 months, according to Google Trends data cited by the company. A YouGov survey found 70% of Britons view dark chocolate as a healthier choice, driving demand for lower-sugar options.
Miquetta de Castro, Lindt Master Chocolatier at Lindt & Sprüngli UK, said the bar "delivers a richer and bolder chocolate taste, ideal for a treat or even for use in cooking and baking at home."
The launch also marks a milestone in Lindt & Sprüngli's sustainability program. From this year onward, all of the company's cocoa is sourced as Rainforest Alliance Certified, part of its wider Cocoa Farming Program. The Rainforest Alliance seal will begin appearing across product packaging.
The 50g bar carries a recommended retail price of £3.50 and will be available from mid-August at Sainsbury's, Lindt stores and Lindt.co.uk, with other retailers to follow. The full EXCELLENCE cocoa percentage range remains exclusive to Lindt Chocolate Shops and its online store.
The company did not disclose sales forecasts or marketing spend for the launch.
