Liberty Puerto Rico extended its free international long-distance mobile call program from Puerto Rico to Venezuela through July 5. The waiver covers personal and business accounts and applies automatically to eligible calls, the company said.
“We decided to extend this benefit to continue facilitating communication between Puerto Rico and Venezuela during this emergency,” said Giovanna Ramírez de Arellano, senior director of communications and corporate social responsibility at Liberty Puerto Rico.
Liberty said the initiative helps customers check on loved ones, coordinate assistance and stay in touch during the ongoing emergency. Ramírez de Arellano added that the company is committed to supporting affected communities through its telecommunications services.
“Now is the time to stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela – both those directly affected within Venezuela and the Venezuelan community in Puerto Rico,” she said. “This initiative is part of our commitment to supporting the communities we serve and providing our services promptly to help our customers and their families get through this emergency.”
Liberty Puerto Rico is a subsidiary of Liberty Latin America, which trades on the Nasdaq under LILA.
