Legend Mining (ASX:LEG) is finalising drillhole design for gold targets at Pinnacle Well, after field reconnaissance and rock chip results confirmed prospectivity at Pyrophyllite Hill.

Legend Mining (ASX:LEG) is preparing to drill newly identified gold opportunities at the Pinnacle Well project, near Leonora. The company's confidence in the project has been boosted by recent field reconnaissance and results from a rock chip sampling program, which identified gold potential at depth.
Executive chair Mark Wilson said the company is finalising drillhole design, using PDIP modelling, rockchip and soil geochemistry, and results from recent reconnaissance work. The gold prospectivity at the Pyrophyllite Hill prospect has been enhanced by evidence of extensive hydrothermal alteration and the rock chip sample results, Wilson told shareholders.
“This new info, when coupled with previously announced IP survey results and the proximity of regionally important structures, makes this prospect a compelling gold target,” he said. The plan is to conduct an initial drilling program over the area identified by the IP survey at Pyrophyllite Hill, which will commence once statutory approvals are received following a heritage survey.
A heritage survey request was submitted to the native title party on March 31, and Legend is now awaiting survey timing details. Field reconnaissance was recently completed at the Pyrophyllite Hill and Alpha North prospects, ground-truthing features observed in the gradient array induced polarisation and pole-dipole induced polarisation surveys run at both prospects.
At the Alpha North target, the reconnaissance work showed a correlation between PDIP chargeable response and some quartz veins. Drillhole design will focus on quartz veins with a coincident chargeable response and veins that returned elevated gold results from previous rockchip sampling.
The gold prospectivity is also supported by extensive hydrothermal alteration, a coincident 600m chargeability-resistive PDIP feature, and proximity to the regionally important northwest-southeast trending Keith-Kilkenny Fault Zone. The Pyrophyllite Hill prospect is considered prospective for both intrusion-related and structurally controlled gold mineralisation, Legend says.
