Lefroy Exploration (ASX: LEX) returns high-grade gold intersections outside Mt Martin's 460,000oz resource, including 8m at 3.93g/t. Scoping study due September quarter.
Lefroy Exploration (ASX: LEX) has returned high-grade gold intersections from its Mt Martin deposit that sit outside the current 460,000-ounce resource estimate and strengthen the case for further expansion. The results include 8 metres at 3.93 grams per tonne gold from 141 metres, with a 3-metre interval at 9.44g/t, and 6 metres at 5.48g/t from 69 metres including 2 metres at 12.8g/t.
Drilling also confirmed continuity along the East Shear, where high-grade mineralisation remains open down plunge across a strike length of more than 1 kilometre that has been sparsely drilled. Lefroy identified the East Shear as a major growth opportunity because historical work concentrated more heavily on the North Shaft, West and Main Shear zones. The results will feed into geological modelling as the company progresses a scoping study for Mt Martin due in the September quarter.
Mt Martin holds a mineral resource estimate of 9.1 million tonnes at 1.6g/t gold for 460,000 ounces, split between an Indicated resource of 3.9 million tonnes for 200,500 ounces and an Inferred resource of 5.2 million tonnes for 259,500 ounces. The reverse circulation program comprised 37 drill holes for 5,046 metres across the Main and East Shear corridors, targeting both near-surface zones and down-plunge extensions.
Managing director Graeme Gribbin said the assays demonstrate the deposit's resource growth potential. “Importantly, they provide us with a new platform for understanding the best corridors for resource growth [and] complement our broader strategy of expanding our 1Moz gold resource base,” he said.
In parallel, Lefroy is updating the high-grade portion of its Burns resource during the September quarter. “With momentum building at Mt Martin, coupled with upside potential from our soon-to-be-updated high-grade domains within the Burns MRE, Lefroy is uniquely positioned to deliver a high-value growth profile for shareholders,” Mr Gribbin added.
The scoping study will incorporate pit optimisation, processing plant layouts, infrastructure logistics and economic assessments. Lefroy plans to use the findings to guide its next phase of step-out drilling along the East Shear and other corridors. The company's broader strategy targets a 1-million-ounce gold resource base across its advanced gold portfolio.
