Leeuwin Metals found historical intercepts of 66m at 1.12 g/t gold and 24m at 1.79 g/t at Red Boomerang and Deception Hill, both outside the 342,300-ounce Marda resource. Drilling is set for H2 2026.
Leeuwin Metals (ASX:LM1) has pulled multiple historical drill intercepts from its database at the Marda gold project in Western Australia, all sitting outside the current resource estimate. The hits at the Red Boomerang and Deception Hill prospects include 66 metres at 1.12 grams per tonne gold from 13 metres, with a higher-grade section of 18 metres at 2.32 g/t gold from 16 metres. Another intercept returned 24 metres at 1.79 g/t gold from surface.
Chairman Christopher Piggott told shareholders the regional targeting work has identified high-priority drill targets that can add meaningful ounces to the base at Marda. He said the historical results at Red Boomerang and Deception Hill are highly encouraging and reinforce the view that Marda has significant potential.
Fieldwork is already underway at these targets. The company has submitted Programmes of Work and expects to start new drilling in the second half of 2026.
Piggott also noted that 55 holes from Leeuwin's own recent drilling have assays pending, and a resource upgrade is underway across the Golden Orb, Evanston, and Marda Central zones. Permitting and drill planning are progressing alongside mine permitting, design work, and discussions on a Mining Environmental Growth Agreement.
Marda currently holds a global Mineral Resource estimate of 342,300 ounces of gold, first defined in December 2025. That breaks down into an Indicated category of 2.1 million tonnes at 1.1 g/t gold (73,800 ounces) and an Inferred category of 8.1 million tonnes at 1.03 g/t gold (268,500 ounces).
The new targets sit entirely outside that resource base. If the pending assays and the planned 2026 drilling confirm continuity, the project could add ounces without needing to extend the existing pit shell. The question is whether the grade and width at Red Boomerang and Deception Hill hold up under Leeuwin's own drill bit, not just in the historical database.
