LANXESS (LNXSY) posted higher second-quarter sales and earnings, rebounding from a weaker first quarter, as the Middle East conflict boosted demand for its specialty chemicals, CEO Matthias Zachert said Thursday.
"We can see a very positive momentum as compared to the first quarter," Zachert said on the company's press conference call. He pointed to a "positive demand effect attributable to the Middle East conflict" and said pricing also improved.
The Cologne-based company did not disclose exact figures. CFO Oliver Stratmann presented the results alongside Zachert.
Zachert said the second quarter represented a turnaround after a slow start to 2026. He expressed confidence in the full-year outlook, though he did not provide numeric guidance.
