Konala, the healthy drive-thru franchise, signed five new franchise leases across Utah and Idaho in the last month, the company said Tuesday. The leases follow three restaurant openings in a 90-day span.
Four of the locations come from Speedy Foods LLC, a multi-unit franchise group that has committed to developing 25 Konala restaurants across Northern Utah and Idaho. The fifth lease was signed by existing franchisee Tyson Adams, who opened Konala's Provo restaurant and has now leased a second location at The Shops at Sky View in Lehi, Utah, a 300,000-square-foot mixed-use retail center anchored by Target and Life Time.
"We're seeing more consumers prioritize healthier, high-protein food without sacrificing convenience, and our franchisees are responding by continuing to invest in the brand," said Trace Miller, Founder and CEO of Konala. "The demand is there, and we're building in the communities where we believe Konala can become part of people's everyday routine."
Adams said opening his first Konala restaurant only reinforced his confidence in the concept. "From day one, we saw how much demand there was for what Konala offers," Adams said. "The operational model is incredibly efficient, the guest response has been outstanding, and signing another lease was an easy decision. We're excited to keep growing with the brand."
The new leases build on recent openings in Spokane, Washington, and Provo, Utah, with an additional location expected in Belleville, New Jersey later this month. More locations are expected before year-end, the company said.
Konala was founded in 2023 by Trace and Jammie Miller. The chain serves high-protein bowls – Teriyaki Chicken, Greek Steak, Chicken Burrito Bowls – with up to 80 grams of protein per bowl. The menu is entirely gluten-free and uses no fryers or grills. The brand's franchise development is managed by Fransmart, the firm that helped grow Five Guys Burgers & Fries and QDOBA Mexican Grill from single-unit businesses into national chains.
