Knicks' First Title Since 1973 Sets Off Wall Street Celebration

Thousands of fans packed the Financial District on Thursday as the New York Knicks held their first NBA championship parade in 53 years. Orange and blue confetti blanketed Broadway from Battery Park to City Hall as the team's open-top buses rolled north through a corridor of office towers and trading floors.
The parade route cut through the heart of the city's financial hub, past the New York Stock Exchange and Federal Hall. Office workers leaned out windows above the canyon of skyscrapers, some waving championship banners printed on printer paper. A trader on the NYSE floor told Reuters the exchange had piped the parade audio through its trading-floor speakers during the morning session.
The Knicks clinched the title Monday night with a Game 6 win at Madison Square Garden, ending a championship drought that stretched back to 1973. Mayor Eric Adams declared Thursday "Knicks Day" in the city and rode in the lead vehicle alongside team owner James Dolan and head coach Tom Thibodeau.
