Brussels-based digital asset firm Keyrock bought the institutional trading and brokerage assets of BlockFills, the companies said July 16.
Keyrock adds BlockFills' client relationships and proprietary trading systems to its existing market-making and OTC business through the deal. The transaction also grants Keyrock a Cayman Islands entity authorized by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority.
A UK entity regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority is pending approval, Keyrock said.
“This acquisition represents an exceptional opportunity to further strengthen our team with outstanding talent and accelerate our global reach in serving institutional counterparties,” Keyrock Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Juan David Mendieta said.
Head of Options Trading Antoine Lours said institutional demand for digital asset options is accelerating. The incoming BlockFills expertise, he said, will lift execution standards and client service.
The acquisition brings in Perry Parker, who ran institutional options at BlockFills with 30 years of experience from Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank. Dan Schak, a risk and trading operations veteran with nearly two decades in the field, also joins, along with other trading and commercial staff.
BlockFills filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this year. The Chicago-based firm had built a network of roughly 2,000 institutional clients and handled over $60 billion in trading volume in 2025, focusing on liquidity and derivatives.
Keyrock was founded in 2017 and employs over 220 people. The company previously raised a Series C round and acquired Turing Capital.
Integration of the BlockFills assets will occur in phases, with direct client communication planned throughout the transition, the companies said.
