Kaoko Metals discovered high-grade copper at Bootless in Namibia, expanding the Chalkos project. CEO Gerard O'Donovan outlines next steps with drilling planned for Q3.
Kaoko Metals discovered a copper outcrop at its Bootless prospect in Namibia, the company said Friday. The find sits within the larger Chalkos project, where the company also reported new results from the Otniel and Donkey Hill zones.
Assays from Bootless returned grades of 3.2% copper across a 12-metre channel sample, the company said. CEO Gerard O'Donovan called the discovery "a significant step forward" for the project, noting it opens a new exploration front in an area that had received little previous work.
At Otniel, drilling intersected 22 metres at 1.8% copper from 45 metres downhole, including a 6-metre section at 3.1% copper. Donkey Hill returned 14 metres at 2.1% copper near surface. The results extend the known mineralised footprint at both targets, O'Donovan said.
Kaoko Metals holds a land package of roughly 2,500 square kilometres in Namibia's Damara belt, a region that hosts several operating copper mines. The company's strategy has been to systematically test regional targets while advancing the more defined zones at Chalkos.
O'Donovan said the Bootless discovery validates the exploration model the team has been applying across the property. The company plans to follow up with ground geophysics and additional trenching in the current field season, with drilling expected to start in the September quarter.
The discovery comes as global copper demand continues to grow, driven by electrification and infrastructure spending. Namibia has attracted increasing exploration interest from juniors and majors alike, drawn by its mining-friendly jurisdiction and the Damara belt's geology. Kaoko ended the session at A$0.076, down 0.5%. The stock has traded in a range of A$0.045 to A$0.12 over the past 12 months.
