Iran envoy says Trump destroyed JCPOA and Islamabad MoU

"The fact that the US side did not even hold off for 60 days to violate the MOU obviously indicates that, basically and principally, the US side lacked serious determination, will and intention for any deal to succeed," Moghadam wrote. He said Washington's objective was not peace through negotiation but instability "without deal, within deal or via deal."

The JCPOA, finalized in July 2015, imposed strict limits on Iran's nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. The Trump administration withdrew from the accord in 2018. The 14-point MoU, signed in Islamabad, was meant to end hostilities and open a path for further talks.

Tensions have escalated since the MoU collapsed. The US has struck Iranian military and civilian assets, and Iran has retaliated against American bases across the Gulf.
