Quick commerce platform Instamart on Wednesday said it has tied up with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to launch on-demand LPG cylinder delivery. The service goes live in Bengaluru, where consumers can order HP Navya, HPCL's new 10 kg composite cylinder, or a 5 kg metal cylinder.
The HP Navya cylinder is lighter and corrosion-resistant, with a translucent body that lets customers see the gas level. Customers do not need an existing domestic LPG connection to order, making the service available to students, working professionals, and smaller households.
First-time purchases are for new cylinders. Refill orders require returning the empty HPCL cylinder at delivery. First-time orders also require identity verification with proof-of-delivery documentation, the company said. Orders are fulfilled through HPCL's authorised distributor network, with delivery by trained personnel under applicable safety and regulatory protocols.
"Instamart has expanded its consumption use cases well beyond groceries to become part of everyday life," said Amitesh Jha, CEO of Instamart. "With HPCL, we're extending that convenience to an essential household service, bringing LPG onto Instamart while maintaining the safety and reliability standards consumers expect."
Amit Garg, director of marketing at HPCL, said the partnership makes LPG more accessible for what he called "Naya Bharat," with a focus on safety, trust, and reliability. "Through the Instamart platform, we will reach customers through a fast, convenient and digitally-enabled platform," Garg added. "It will make HP Navya Composite LPG cylinders more accessible while enhancing the overall customer experience."
