India Warns Citizens on Black Sea Maritime Jobs After Five Deaths

India's government warned citizens to assess security risks before accepting maritime jobs in the Black Sea region, days after five Indians were killed in attacks on two commercial vessels. The Ministry of External Affairs said the security situation in and around the Black Sea remains highly volatile due to the ongoing conflict. Commercial vessels in those waters face missile and drone attacks, the ministry added. The advisory asks Indian nationals to obtain detailed information from employers about vessel routes, security arrangements, and emergency procedures. It also urged them to keep family informed and maintain contact. The warning could affect crew availability for shipping companies operating in the region, potentially raising insurance costs for Black Sea trade routes. The ministry said there has been an increase in such incidents since April, resulting in the five deaths.
