India Approves ₹334.9 Cr Flyover at Visakhapatnam Port

The 3.584 km elevated corridor will connect Convent Junction with the Dock Area, separating road and rail traffic. The port currently has nine major railway level crossings that see about 18 gate closures a day because of high train exchange volumes.

The frequent closures cause congestion and higher fuel costs for vehicles moving cargo, the ministry said in a statement. The flyover is designed to reduce those delays and cut vehicle operating costs.

The project includes civil and electrical works, utility shifting, safety installations, and five years of maintenance. Construction will be planned to minimise disruption to port operations. The project is scheduled for completion within 30 months.
