Hippo Holdings promotes Laura Boettcher to group COO

Hippo Holdings Inc. promoted Laura Boettcher to Chief Operating Officer of the entire group, expanding her oversight from the company's insurance arm to the parent level.

Boettcher had served as COO of Hippo Insurance since February 2024. In the new role, she oversees operations across the group while maintaining a focus on efficiency and customer service, the company said.

Rick McCathron, President and CEO of Hippo Holdings, commented on the appointment.

The promotion comes as Hippo continues to build out its operational focus. The company earlier this year expanded its board with new independent directors, part of a broader shift toward internal operational focus.

Boettcher brings nearly 20 years of experience in insurance and reinsurance. She holds the ARe designation, reflecting reinsurance expertise. Before joining Hippo in 2020, she worked at Guy Carpenter as a Senior Vice President, developing reinsurance strategies for personal lines clients, including Hippo Insurance. Earlier in her career, she held senior finance and operations roles at CompWest Insurance and Home Value Protection, a Kleiner Perkins-backed start-up. At CompWest, she led business intelligence and strategic financial planning, reporting directly to the CEO, and the company says she delivered more than $1 million in cost efficiencies through process improvements and KPI development. At Home Value Protection, she helped establish the financial planning and analysis function as part of the executive team.

At Hippo, she previously served as Chief of Staff to the CEO and Director of Reinsurance before becoming COO of the insurance subsidiary.

The group-wide role positions Boettcher to integrate operational practices developed at the insurance unit across all Hippo entities, the company indicated. The appointment is effective immediately.
