Hindustan Copper Targets Navratna Status Amid Ambitious Expansion Plan

Hindustan Copper is aggressively expanding its mining capacity to 12.2 million tonnes per annum by 2030 as it aims to secure Navratna status.

Hindustan Copper Ltd is actively pursuing Navratna status, a designation that would reflect the company's operational progress and strategic growth trajectory. Company leadership confirmed that the push for this elevated corporate standing is supported by a robust development roadmap.

Central to this strategy is a significant scaling of mining operations. The firm has set a production target of 12.2 million tonnes per annum by 2030. Management indicated that achieving this output capacity will require substantial investments in technological upgrades and the integration of sustainable mining practices.

Beyond domestic production goals, Hindustan Copper is focused on increasing its international footprint. The company has entered into a partnership with CODELCO, the state-owned Chilean copper mining giant, to enhance its global reach and diversify its operational capabilities. By modernizing its infrastructure and expanding its production volume, the company aims to meet the criteria necessary to secure Navratna recognition, which would provide the firm with greater operational and financial autonomy.
