The fast-casual chain adds Springfield-area locations as part of its Northeast franchise push, with first opening expected late 2026.
Alpha Score of 45 reflects weak overall profile with moderate momentum, weak value, weak quality, moderate sentiment.
Haven Hot Chicken, the New Haven-based fast-casual chain, has signed a three-unit franchise agreement for the Springfield area. Local operators Nate and Whitney Tupper plan to open restaurants in Springfield, West Springfield and Chicopee, with the first location expected in late 2026.
The husband-and-wife team already runs a Jersey Mike's Subs franchise in Longmeadow. They discovered Haven on trips to Connecticut, becoming regulars before pursuing development rights. Nate Tupper cited the brand's onboarding process and operator support as deciding factors.
The agreement is Haven's second franchise deal in Massachusetts, adding to its existing Franklin location. The brand, founded in 2020, has grown to five heat levels and serves crispy and grilled chicken with house-made sides. It was named to the 2024 Inc. 5000 list and QSR's 40/40 List of America's Hottest Startup Fast Casuals.
Co-founder Rob LaTronica said the Tuppers' experience as operators aligned with Haven's focus on quality and community connections. The chain also supports The Greater Boston Food Bank through its Banana Pudding sales.
The expansion comes as the fast-casual chicken segment continues to draw franchise investment. For context, QSR (Restaurant Brands International) carries an Alpha Score of 45 (Mixed), reflecting its position in the broader consumer discretionary space. Haven's push into Western Massachusetts adds to a growing roster of hot chicken concepts targeting suburban markets.
