Godrej Agrovet opened a ₹300 crore integrated oil palm complex in Telangana, aiming to expand plantation area to 30,000 hectares by 2030 and boost domestic edible oil output.
Godrej Agrovet Ltd inaugurated an integrated oil palm complex in Khammam, Telangana, on Monday, with a total investment of ₹300 crore. The facility brings seed genetics, nursery operations, an R&D centre, a mill, and a refinery under one roof, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The mill, the first set up by a private company in the state, has started operations at 30 tonnes per hour and is designed for expansion to 60 tonnes per hour. Godrej Agrovet plans to increase its oil palm plantation area in Telangana to 30,000 hectares by 2030, from 10,000 hectares currently. The cumulative investment will reach ₹300 crore once the entire complex is operational, the company said.
Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu Garu, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Finance & Planning, Energy, Government of Telangana, inaugurated the complex. “This complex is a landmark for Telangana's oil palm mission and for our vision of making the state a leading edible oil producer. Telangana's oil palm mission is transforming the lives of lakhs of farming households while strengthening the nation's edible oil security,” Burjis Godrej, Chairperson Designate of Godrej Agrovet, said.
Managing Director and CEO Sunil Kataria said the integrated value chain gives the company greater control over quality and consistency. “With the entire oil palm value chain under one roof, we gain greater control over quality and consistency, and it reflects our confidence in Telangana's potential to lead the nation's edible oil security journey while uplifting farming families,” Kataria said.
The complex also houses a Samadhan Centre, a one-stop resource for oil palm farmers offering advisory support and access to farm inputs and other services.
Godrej Agrovet, part of the Godrej Industries Group, operates across animal feed, crop protection, dairy, food, and oil palm segments. The expansion targets India's growing edible oil demand, where domestic production still lags consumption. For more on broader commodity trends, see our commodities analysis.
