George at ASDA merges home and fashion in a single campaign for the first time, reframing the brand as a style destination rather than leading with affordability alone.
George at ASDA has launched the biggest marketing push in the brand's recent history, bringing home and fashion under one creative platform for the first time. The campaign, called "If You Know, You Know," reframes George as a destination where style and value coexist. That is a shift from the brand's traditional affordability-first messaging.
The integrated effort spans VOD, online video, social, digital, OOH, CRM, retail media, in-store and George's own channels. It represents one of the largest marketing investments George has made in recent years, according to the company.
At the centre are films that focus on the moment of recognition when a shopper spots a well-designed piece at a George price. The home film launches this autumn. Fashion activity follows later in the season. Both sit under the same "If You Know, You Know" platform.
Out-of-home and print executions pair oversized typography with product shots and headlines like "The vase everyone's after" and "The glass everyone's reaching for." The work aims to turn everyday retail messaging into cultural recommendations, presenting George's home range as a place to find tomorrow's must-have pieces first.
Lucky Generals created the campaign. It is the first time the agency has led creative across the entire George brand.
Tom Hampson, group marketing director at George, said: "Everyone loves that feeling of finding something really stylish. That's exactly what this campaign celebrates. George has always offered incredible style at outstanding value, we know there are still people who haven't fully discovered that yet. 'If You Know, You Know' captures the confidence our existing customers already have in the brand while inviting a whole new audience to see George differently."
Ed Cole and Lewis Bostrand-Mooney, creative directors at Lucky Generals, said: "People know George for value, they may not be aware of its on-trend fashion and stylish homeware credentials. Our 'If you know you know' platform aims to redress that balance by celebrating what our savvy fans already know: That George is the place for the fashion forward, the style conscious and yes, the value seekers."
The campaign marks a strategic bet that George can hold its value positioning while competing on design credentials. ASDA's parent company, Walmart, has been pushing its international operations to strengthen own-brand margins. George, ASDA's largest own-label franchise, generates roughly £2.5 billion in annual sales. A more style-focused pitch could help it fend off encroachment from discounters like Primark and online players like Shein, both of which have been gaining share in the UK value fashion market.
For Lucky Generals, the account is a significant win. The agency has been expanding its retail roster after winning the Co-op food and drink business in 2023. Taking creative control of George's full brand – home and fashion – gives it a platform to build across multiple categories and seasons, rather than executing one-off campaigns.
Hampson declined to comment on specific media spend figures. He said the campaign's integrated nature – spanning TV, digital, out-of-home, in-store and CRM – reflects George's ambition to reach shoppers at every stage of the purchase journey, not just on the shop floor.
