Gauff beat Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 to reach her first Wimbledon semifinal. She converted all five break points and will face Osaka or Muchova on Thursday.
Coco Gauff is through to her first Wimbledon semifinal after a three-set win over Jessica Pegula on Centre Court Tuesday. The 22-year-old American dropped the first set 4-6, then took the next two 6-3, 6-3. She aced Pegula seven times, hit 25 winners, and converted all five break points she faced.
"I'm just happy to get through," Gauff said on ESPN. "After seven years playing this tournament, it's finally the first time I could walk on Centre Court and I didn't feel nervous."
The win ends a two-year drought on grass for Gauff, who entered Wimbledon without a single grass-court victory since 2024. She started her run with a straight-sets win over Tamara Korpatsch and then won four straight three-setters.
Gauff now stands 4-5 in career singles meetings against Pegula, her doubles partner. She will face either Naomi Osaka or Karolina Muchova in Thursday's semifinal.
A Wimbledon title would push Gauff past Pegula as the highest-ranked American woman. Gauff is currently No. 7 in the WTA rankings; Pegula is No. 4. Gauff already has semifinal appearances at all four Grand Slams. She is 3-2 in previous major semifinals.
On the men's side, top seed Jannik Sinner beat Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets to reach the semifinals. Sinner will face either Novak Djokovic or Felix Auger-Aliassime on Friday.
Quarterfinal coverage continues Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning on ESPN networks.
