Fresnillo plc more than doubled its interim dividend after record first-half financial results, with revenue up sharply on higher precious metal prices and gross profit and EBITDA more than doubling alongside stronger margins, CEO Octavio Alvidréz said on the company's earnings call Tuesday.
The payout follows the company's long-standing dividend policy and means Fresnillo has returned over $2 billion to shareholders in the past five years, Alvidréz said. The balance-sheet strength also funded two strategic moves: the acquisition of Probe Gold earlier this year and, more recently, an investment in the Sinda project. Both meet the company's strict geological criteria and add exposure to silver districts that complement its existing portfolio, the CEO said.
Alvidréz pointed to a constructive outlook for silver, with analysts forecasting an average 2026 price of $76 an ounce. That price environment, combined with cost control, gives management further confidence in its strategy.
