Franklin Templeton, the $1.8 trillion asset manager, has put its tokenized U.S. government money market fund on the HashKey Exchange, opening the product to professional investors across Asia.
The fund, the Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Liquidity Fund (grBENJI), is now available through HashKey's Earn Channel. It invests in U.S. government money market instruments and dollar cash assets. The offering is restricted to professional investors under Hong Kong rules and is not open to retail buyers there.
Chetan Karkhanis, Franklin Templeton's senior vice president of digital assets client engagement, said the launch targets HashKey's growing base of digital-asset-focused clients and institutional investors.
"We are excited to launch our tokenized money market fund on the HashKey Exchange platform," he said. "Leveraging blockchain technology, the Fund provides investors with enhanced transparency, security, accessibility, speed, and cost efficiency."
The partners plan to move beyond money market funds into other tokenized products. Franklin Templeton aims to use HashKey's multi-jurisdictional platform covering Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Dubai, and Bermuda.
The fund's parent structure recently got a regulatory boost. Franklin Templeton secured SEC clearance to put tokenized assets inside traditional investment funds. The BENJI money market fund can now be held as collateral inside ETFs and mutual funds. The change could take effect in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The HashKey listing deepens the exchange's Earn ecosystem with regulated tokenized products. It also extends Franklin Templeton's push into Asian crypto markets, where it already has a Solana ETF filing with the SEC and an existing crypto index ETF holding XRP, Solana, and Dogecoin.
