Fini adds two new SKUs to its Hero Tubes range, tapping nostalgia and sour profiles. The launches offer retailers a £1.25 value cue and rotation rates faster than competitors, said MD Steven Greaves.
Fini added two new flavours to its Hero Tubes range, betting on nostalgia and sour profiles as shoppers seek stronger taste experiences. The new Cotton Candy Tubes and Sour Blue Raspberry Tubes come in 140g price-marked packs at £1.25, a price point the company is positioning as a clear value cue for forecourt retailers.
The expansion taps two well-documented consumer trends. More than one in four shoppers cite nostalgia or comfort as a main reason for buying traditional sweets, according to Fini's own market references. Sour confectionery, meanwhile, continues to gain ground as buyers look for more intense sensory effects.
Steven Greaves, managing director UK and Ireland at Fini, said the new products combine nostalgic flavour cues with the brand's playful designs. “Cotton Candy and Sour Blue Raspberry Tubes respond to two distinct confectionery trends,” he said. “For retailers, the launches pair creativity with clear commercial potential, delivering strong shelf standout and a £1.25 value cue.”
Circana data shows Fini is one of the fastest-growing sugar confectionery brands in the UK over the past 52 weeks, with 30% growth in the latest quarter. The Tubes range rotates up to twice as fast as competitor products in some channels, Greaves said, a claim the company attributes to flavour, texture and packaging design.
The launches arrive as the broader confectionery sector benefits from rising demand for impulse items and convenience-store formats. Larger brands such as Mars Wrigley and Mondelez have also leaned into nostalgic relaunches and limited-edition sour lines. Fini’s move suggests smaller challenger brands can still grab shelf space by targeting specific taste profiles and price points, especially at forecourts and convenience stores where the average transaction is small but frequent.
Cotton Candy Tubes are already on promotion at selected Spar stores through September and October. Sour Blue Raspberry Tubes launched exclusively through Unitas Wholesale members and will roll out to Spar and Sugro members from September.
Both products are available in clip strips, a flexible merchandising option that allows retailers to position them in high-footfall areas. For wholesalers and independent retailers, the limited early distribution means supply may be tight initially, but Fini sees the phased rollout as a way to build demand before wider availability.
