Ex-MP Vinayak Raut, 5 others booked after daughter-in-law files torture complaint

Former Shiv Sena (UBT) Lok Sabha MP Vinayak Raut, his son, and five other people have been booked by police in Thane following allegations of physical, mental, and financial harassment of his daughter-in-law, who also accused the family of black magic and forcing her to undergo occult rituals, a police official said Sunday.
The FIR was registered June 10 at Kapurbawdi police station by Girija Raut, 38, who is separated from Raut’s son, Jitesh, also known as Gitesh.
“The case was registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act for physical, mental, and financial torture and also subjecting her to occult rituals,” the official said.
Girija Raut alleged that she married Gitesh in an arranged marriage in December 2017, despite the family’s awareness of his alleged inability to maintain a physical relationship, the official said. During trips to Australia, New Zealand, Kenya, and Thailand, she was abused and assaulted whenever she raised concerns about the lack of a physical relationship, she claimed. Family members told her an “external obstacle” was preventing things from changing, the official added.
