A former Malaysian Airlines cabin crew member and her aide were arrested after police seized 977 grams of mephedrone from a car on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, according to NDTV. The arrest has opened a wider investigation into a drug network that authorities say stretches back years.
Surat Crime Branch officers stopped the vehicle near a toll plaza after receiving a tip that drugs were being moved from Vadodara to Mumbai. Inside, they found the mephedrone, along with mobile phones and packaging materials. The two occupants, Mansi Sayed, 41, and Suleman Shaikh, 20, were taken into custody.
During questioning, the pair told police the car was rented in Mumbai and driven to Vadodara, where a woman handed them the consignment near the railway station. Their plan was to repackage the drugs into smaller lots for sale in Mumbai, the report said. Both lived in the Santacruz area and had known each other for years.
