Erdene Resource Development Corp. (ERD, ERDN, ERDCF) produced 11,709 ounces of gold at its Bayan Khundii mine in Mongolia during the second quarter, a 37% jump from the prior quarter, the company said Monday.
The processed ore grade averaged 25% higher during the three months through June, reflecting better ore control and reduced dilution, President and CEO Peter Akerley said in a statement. The mine, in which Erdene holds a 50% economic interest, has been running steadily after a ramp-up period last year.
Alongside the production results, Erdene is pushing forward with technical work on its wholly owned exploration portfolio. A preliminary economic assessment for the Zuun Mod project is expected in the second half of 2026, with geophysics and drilling planned later this year to test copper potential at the Khuvyn Khar license, Akerley said.
At Tereg Uul, a property adjacent to the Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold system, Erdene's maiden drill program hit anomalous gold and silver mineralization along a 1.5-kilometre trend at the Web prospect. Deeper drilling there intersected native copper and gold. The company has extended its option on the property for another year.
Akerley highlighted the exploration results as encouraging enough to justify the extension.
The company will hold a webcast and conference call Monday at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time to discuss the quarter and its current initiatives.
Erdene is listed on the Toronto and Mongolian stock exchanges and trades on the OTCQX Market. Its flagship Bayan Khundii mine sits in the Khundii Minerals District, an underexplored region of Mongolia that the company sees as a growth pipeline.
Jon Lyons, the chief development officer, oversees mine operations as the qualified person for the Bayan Khundii technical information. Peter Dalton, senior geologist, serves as the qualified person for the exploration results.
