Endeavour Silver Corp. (EXK) reported on Aug. 16 that operations at its Terronera mine in Jalisco, Mexico, have been suspended since Aug. 12 because of an illegal blockade by members of the nearby Ejido community.
The blockade follows community concerns about road maintenance, medical services, water access, and financial assistance, the company said. The protest has remained peaceful and orderly, according to Endeavour.
A reduced workforce stays on site to support safety and security, and the site remains accessible for maintenance, the company said.
Endeavour is in active discussions with Ejido leaders to resolve the matter and resume full operations. The company said it can pursue legal action and will exercise all available legal remedies if the suspension is prolonged.
Terronera is one of Endeavour's key silver assets. The mid-tier producer operates three mines in Mexico and Peru and has a pipeline of exploration projects across Mexico, Chile, and the United States. The company did not provide a timeline for restarting operations.
Endeavour Silver (EXK) is currently unscored in AlphaScala's system, with the stock categorized under basic materials.
The company said it will exercise all available legal remedies if the matter is prolonged.
