A crypto trader bought 37.96 million tokens of the memecoin 牛来 (Niu Lai) for $148 on Aug. 13 and sold them a day later for $1,600. The same tokens would be worth $1.3 million at Monday's peak, on-chain data from GMGN.ai show.
The trader, wallet address 0xb0d0…484d9, closed 23 sell transactions across roughly 24 hours. Niu Lai's market cap sat at $3,890 at the time of purchase and averaged $42,160 across the sells. By Monday the token had pushed past $48 million before settling near $35 million, according to CoinMarketCap data.
Niu Lai takes its name from a Chinese animated film that opened to mockery then became a box-office hit. The token has been listed on MEXC, LBank, HTX, Binance Alpha, Poloniex, XT.com, and KCEX. Daily traded volume rose 37.64% over the past 24 hours to about $60 million. On-chain holders now number roughly 31,770.
The missed return works out to roughly 899,700% if the trader had held for a week. The token's price path depends on whether new exchange listings keep drawing buyers faster than early holders cash out. Selling pressure from initial-stage investors has already picked up, several traders on decentralized exchanges noted.
