DFS returns to ITV's Saturday night lineup with an integrated marketing campaign tied to The Voice UK, following a similar BGT deal earlier this year.
DFS is back on ITV's Saturday night schedule. The sofa retailer struck a new integrated marketing deal with The Voice UK, following a similar campaign with Britain's Got Talent earlier this year.
The singing competition returns Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. on ITV1 and ITVX. Season 14 brings fresh coaches and a new batch of hopefuls. DFS will appear across TV, BVOD, digital and The Voice UK social channels, tied to its "What's your thing?" brand proposition.
A 10-second contextual ad mirrors the show's blind audition format. The DFS San Antonio sofa sits center stage, "auditioning" for the coaches before the famous spinning chairs turn around.
Backstage, DFS sofas will host social media personality Charley Marlowe, who interviews contestants in an informal setting. The segments aim to reveal each singer's personality and style through questions and games, giving fans a view beyond the performance. Marlowe's content will run across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube, plus DFS's own channels.
The partnership runs Aug. 22 through Oct. 31. DFS will amplify it through its website, stores and CRM channels. Followers can enter to win £2,500 toward furniture.
"It's great to be partnering with ITV once again to put DFS at the heart of Saturday night television, through one of the nation's favourite shows," said James Brewer, marketing director at DFS. "The sofa is the ultimate Saturday-night-in destination, and something we know families look forward to enjoying together, so this partnership allows us to continue being part of those special moments."
Bhavit Chandari, director of BE Studio at ITV, said the integration "feels like a natural fit for Saturday night TV" and called it "a prime example of how BE Studio collaborates with brands to deliver creative, engaging storytelling."
The Voice UK deal follows a pattern DFS used with Britain's Got Talent earlier this year. The retailer has been shifting more marketing spend toward integrated TV partnerships that embed the brand into the show's content rather than relying on spot ads alone. The approach lets DFS reach ITV's Saturday night audience, which remains one of the largest broadcast TV audiences in the UK despite streaming growth. ITV's BGT final in June drew 5.2 million viewers.
DFS's "What's your thing?" campaign, launched in 2023, positions the sofa as a centerpiece for individual expression and family time. The Voice UK, with its focus on contestants' unique stories, fits that message. The backstage interviews with Marlowe give DFS access to younger viewers on social platforms where the brand has less organic presence.
For ITV, the deal represents another integration from its BE Studio unit, which creates branded content for advertisers. ITV has been pushing these partnerships as a way to capture ad revenue that might otherwise go to digital platforms. The Voice UK, now in its 14th season, remains a reliable ratings draw for the network, averaging around 4 million viewers per episode in its last series.
The £2,500 giveaway is a small but direct lead-generation play. DFS will collect entries through its website and CRM channels, building its email database for future campaigns. The prize amount is enough to buy a mid-range sofa, which aligns with DFS's typical price point.
DFS has not disclosed the cost of the partnership. The company's marketing budget for the current financial year is expected to be in line with last year's £45 million, according to its most recent annual report. The retailer has been investing more in brand marketing after a period focused on discounting and promotions during the cost-of-living squeeze.
