Davidson Kempner Discloses 1.8% DCC Stake in Takeover Code Filing

Davidson Kempner Capital Management disclosed a 1.77% stake in DCC PLC, the Dublin-based sales, marketing and support services group, according to a Rule 8.3 filing with the Irish Takeover Panel on Wednesday.

The filing covers the period to Tuesday's close. The hedge fund holds 1,753,830 ordinary shares in DCC, all in long positions. It reported no short positions, no derivatives, and no stock-lending arrangements on the securities.

The disclosure comes under Rule 8.3 of the Irish Takeover Rules, which applies to any person with an interest in relevant securities representing 1% or more of the class. The form noted no indemnity or dealing arrangements, no agreements to purchase or sell, and no irrevocable commitments.

Davidson Kempner, founded in 1983 and based in New York, managed roughly $40 billion in assets as of early 2025. The firm holds a multi-strategy mandate that includes event-driven, credit and equity investments. Its appearance on the DCC register signals a disclosed long position rather than an activist or arbitrage posture, given the absence of any derivative overlay or short-side hedge in the filing.

DCC, which distributes products in the energy, healthcare and technology sectors across 22 countries, has a market capitalisation of roughly £4.5 billion. The stock has traded in a range of 4,900p to 6,300p over the past 12 months. The disclosure does not itself constitute a declaration of intent to make an offer or seek board representation.

DCC shares were broadly flat in London trading Wednesday.
