Clear Group buys Lloyd's wholesale broker NPP, gaining specialist reach in Canada, Australia and the U.S. NPP's revenue jumped to £7M from £5M in a year as GWP hit £120M.
Clear Group, the independent insurance intermediary, bought Newman Pearce & Partners LLP (NPP), a specialist Lloyd’s wholesale broker. The deal strengthens Clear's position in the London Market and accelerates its wholesale growth strategy, the company said.
NPP was founded in 2019 by Gordon Newman, Neil Pearce and Colin Rogers. The business is headquartered in London and employs 24 people. It provides specialist broking services for retail brokers and coverholders seeking access to the Lloyd's market, with expertise in Global Specialty, International Liability, Construction, Offshore Marine Liability and Specialist Property.
About 95% of NPP's portfolio comes from overseas markets, including Canada, Australia and the United States, alongside distribution relationships in Türkiye, Africa and India. The firm has grown revenue from roughly £5 million in FY25 to about £7 million in FY26, while gross written premium rose from around £70 million to £120 million over the same period, Clear said. The growth was driven by NPP's reputation, referral relationships, and specialist hiring.
Internationally, NPP expanded through the launch of Silverstar Insurance Intermediaries Ltd, a Canadian managing general agent underwriting general and professional liability for the natural resources sector since September 2025.
For Clear, the acquisition marks a significant milestone in its strategy to grow wholesale operations. Clear already had a wholesale foundation through Lilley Plummer Risks Ltd (LPR). The addition of NPP enhances Clear's international footprint and specialist capabilities, entering key regions such as Australia and Canada. NPP's areas of expertise complement LPR's existing portfolio and do not create internal overlap, the firm said. Together, the businesses will offer an expanded suite of specialist Lloyd's solutions.
Neil Pearce, CEO and Co-Founder of NPP, said: “Since founding the business in 2019, we’ve focused on building a specialist Lloyd’s wholesale broker with strong technical expertise and international reach. Joining Clear represents an exciting next chapter, giving us access to additional resources while preserving the entrepreneurial culture and specialist focus that have underpinned our success.”
Dan Plummer, Managing Director of LPR, said: “NPP bring a highly complementary specialism and international reach that will open up new opportunities for both of our businesses. We’re excited to join forces with the team.”
NPP will continue to operate from its London office, working closely with Clear's existing wholesale businesses while supporting its retail broker and coverholder partners, the announcement said.
