The Cockroach Janta Party called off its nationwide protest Saturday after the government accepted its key demands, including the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The decision came after a third round of talks between CJP representatives and Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh.
The government agreed to withdraw police cases against protesters and provide compensation to families of students who died by suicide during the exam paper leak controversy, CJP leaders said. Pradhan resigned earlier in the day, saying he was "deeply pained" and stepping down in the interest of students and the country. Senior BJP leader Pralhad Joshi was given additional charge of the Education Ministry while retaining his existing portfolios – Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and New and Renewable Energy.
The CJP posted an updated list of demands on X, noting that two key items remained pending: compensation of ₹1 crore to each family of students who died by suicide, and a public apology from the RAF and Delhi Police. The group also said no action should be taken against any student protesters.
