CJI tells lawyer 'don't waste our time' on CJP protest plea

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant rebuked a lawyer who sought to present video evidence of police action during a July 20 march by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), telling the court had no time to watch footage.

“We are not interested in videos, we don't have time to watch,” the CJI said while hearing a petition against police conduct on student protesters. The lawyer had argued that videos showed police atrocities against participants.

The case involves a plea challenging police action during the CJP march. Justice Kant's remarks came as the bench refused to review the visual material, calling the submission a waste of court time.

The court has not yet passed an order on the plea. The march had drawn attention over police response, with activists and lawmakers demanding accountability. The Centre has not filed a detailed response in the matter.
