The 2026 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week opened in Guiyang, Guizhou province, with a theme centered on smart education and artificial intelligence. The event, running year-round with 60 projects, includes six hosted by ASEAN nations – Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Lao Deputy Education Minister Daravone Phothipalath pointed to the Laos-China railway technical college as a flagship project, saying it supplies skilled labor for rail, digital economy and tourism. Myanmar's Deputy Education Minister Zaw Min said his country wants to expand partnerships in digital education, AI and faculty development.
