Centre approves Puducherry's ₹14,300-crore budget for FY2026-27

The Union Home Ministry has approved the Puducherry government's proposed ₹14,300-crore budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. The clearance came after consultation with the Finance Ministry, the Home Ministry's Under Secretary said in a letter to the Chief Secretary on Monday.

The President of India approved the laying of the annual financial statement before the Puducherry Legislative Assembly, the letter said. The budget will be presented by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy during the Assembly session later this month, official sources said. The session will begin with the Lieutenant Governor's customary address.

The AINRC-Bharatiya Janata Party coalition government was formed in May after Assembly polls on April 9. The election of a Speaker is expected before the session starts, sources said. AIADMK legislator A. Anbalagan is currently the pro tem Speaker.
