Cards Against Humanity raises $150K for anti-Musk monument near SpaceX site

Cards Against Humanity has raised about $150,000 from more than 12,000 contributors for a monument near SpaceX's Starbase facility in Texas that the company says is designed to "f---k with Elon Musk."

The card game maker, known for its raunchy fill-in-the-blank products, organized the "Official Elon Musk is a Sad Little B---h with No Friends Monument Design Committee" on Thursday and began collecting $10 donations.

A spokesperson for Cards Against Humanity told Business Insider the company owns a parcel of land near Starbase that it purchased in 2017 to slow the first Trump administration's border wall plans. SpaceX's operations at the rocket development site have damaged the property, the spokesperson said.

"When we first purchased this land, it was a beautiful lot surrounded by nothing but a peaceful river and open fields," the spokesperson wrote. "Now, it's surrounded by a 'town' called 'Starbase' – corporate hellscape littered with broken rockets and ugly mansions for Musk's s---t-eating executives."

The land dispute went through the courts in 2024, when Cards Against Humanity sued SpaceX and reached a confidential settlement the following year. The game company said at the time that SpaceX later removed its equipment from the property.

A SpaceX spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

Starbase, located just north of the U.S.-Mexico border near Brownsville, Texas, is SpaceX's massive rocket launch and development site. The surrounding area incorporated as the City of Starbase in 2025, with a population of more than 500 residents, though thousands work at the complex.
