Caprice Resources has extended the southern gold plunge at the Vadrians target by roughly 50m, with new assays pointing to a broader, open-ended system at the Island project in Western Australia's Murchison region.
Drilling at the southern limit of Vadrians returned 5.4m at 6.4 grams per tonne gold from 357m and 2.6m at 3.2g/t from 348m, the company said Tuesday. The intercepts push the interpreted southerly plunge deeper than previously defined.
Beneath the central high-grade zone, a new intersection of 5m at 1.8g/t gold from 264m indicates the system continues at depth. To the north, a 7m intercept at 4.5g/t gold from 239m suggests Vadrians sits within a larger, structurally controlled gold system associated with a cross-cutting dolerite dyke. The mineralisation remains open along strike and at depth.
Caprice has completed about 22,300m of a planned 50,000m air core, reverse circulation, and diamond drilling campaign across Island. Results from 30 RC holes for 6,000m at the Eureka, Baxter, and southern Island targets are pending.
The company plans to test extensions at New Orient, the southern end of the project, and emerging targets at Iron Clad and Chicago. It also intends to drill across a 1km gap between New Orient and Vadrians, using land-based positions to test the interpreted northern continuation of the Vadrians banded iron formation 150m to 250m beneath the lake surface.
Further work includes reviews and selective re-sampling of existing drill core, plus refinements to the geological and structural model to support future mineral resource estimation.
Managing director Luke Cox said the campaign had highlighted Vadrians' prospectivity.
"Our drilling continues to demonstrate the growth potential at Vadrians, with mineralisation extending down plunge along a structural break and remaining open along strike," he said.
"The results reinforce our interpretation of a broader system with potential for significant depth extent like the historical high-grade Hill 50 deposit, located approximately 50km to the south."
Cox added that the company is also testing additional structural break targets across Island that display similar geological settings to Vadrians.
