Calida Group sold its Cosabella luxury lingerie brand to Crown Brands Group after a 37% sales drop in the first half of 2026. The Swiss company is focusing on core brands Calida and Aubade.
Calida Group has sold its luxury lingerie brand Cosabella to Crown Brands Group, a New York-based brand management and private equity firm, through an asset purchase agreement that closed July 23. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The sale ends a four-year ownership period for the Swiss apparel company, which bought Cosabella for $80 million in 2022 as part of a push to expand its U.S. department store and digital business. The turnaround efforts failed to reverse a slide in sales. Cosabella's net revenue dropped 37% to 4.3 million Swiss francs (about $5.25 million) in the first half of 2026, accounting for 4.6% of the group's total revenue.
Calida Group's overall first-half results also weakened. Net sales fell nearly 8% year over year, and net income declined roughly 12%, according to the company's half-year report. The group cited weaker consumer confidence, economic uncertainty, and heightened price sensitivity, especially in European markets.
The divestiture is the latest step in a multiyear portfolio simplification. Calida once owned seven brands and has been shedding businesses since 2020. It now focuses on its two core brands, Calida and Aubade.
CEO Thomas Stöcklin said in a shareholder letter that the sale "further simplifies the group's brand portfolio and reinforces our focus on the strategic development of our core brands." He added that the transaction creates "additional operational and financial flexibility to further develop the brands and strengthen their positioning in the premium segment."
For the rest of 2026, Calida Group projects improved operating contributions from Calida and Aubade, with an operating EBIT margin above 6% of sales. Stöcklin said the company is "confident that the strategic and operational measures we have initiated will gain increasing traction."
Under Crown Brands Group, Cosabella will move to a licensing-focused operating model. The acquirer plans to expand the brand through department stores, specialty boutiques, e-commerce, and international markets. About 85% of Cosabella's revenue currently comes from the U.S., with the remaining 15% from overseas. Crown Brands CEO Raymond Dayan said opening freestanding stores, particularly abroad, is under consideration since the brand currently has no standalone retail locations.
"Cosabella gives Crown a clear leadership position in premium intimates, and it validates the model we set out to build: acquire authentic heritage brands, pair them with best-in-class operating partners, and invest in their next chapter of growth," Dayan said.
Founded in Miami in 1983, Cosabella is known for Italian-inspired luxury lingerie. Crown Brands specializes in acquiring consumer brands and expanding through licensing partnerships and retail distribution.
