Malaysian Re's CAB 2.0 cloud platform for facultative reinsurance went live March 4, cutting 392 hours of manual work annually. The upgrade moves legacy admin to the cloud.
Malaysian Re's Central Administration Bureau launched CAB 2.0 on March 4, moving its facultative reinsurance administration system from a legacy platform to a cloud-based system. The bureau manages settlement and administration for CAB members, a group of Malaysian insurers and reinsurers.
Malaysian Re said the upgrade cuts repetitive manual processes. The finance functions alone are expected to save 392.25 working hours a year, or 49 working days. The platform went live ahead of its formal launch, with training and onboarding provided to members since then.
Shahrom Othman, head of CAB and bureau manager, said the successful delivery of CAB 2.0 shows what can be achieved through strong industry collaboration and a shared vision for digital transformation. He added that the platform is designed to provide greater efficiency and security while enabling the insurance and takaful industry to adopt future innovations.
Gary Hoo, CAB chairman, called the upgrade an important step forward in the bureau's digital transformation journey, delivering a more efficient and resilient platform for members and the wider reinsurance industry. Malaysian Re noted that continuous support remains in place as the bureau continues to enhance the platform and user experience.
