brrr° launches brrr°X fabric with X-shaped yarn that accelerates moisture evaporation. The cooling mineral infusion lasts the garment's lifetime. Samples debut at the Functional Fabric Fair in July.
Cooling fabric maker brrr° is rolling out a new fabric called brrr°X, built around a proprietary X-shaped yarn that the company says pulls moisture off the skin faster than its existing line.
The yarn increases the surface area of each filament, which speeds up evaporation and keeps the wearer drier. The fabric also carries brrr°'s standard cooling mineral infusion, which the company says feels cool to the touch and lasts the life of the garment without washing out.
CEO David Chu, who founded Nautica and has spent five decades in apparel, said brrr°X is aimed at sportswear, activewear, and outdoor gear. "brrr°X has superior rapid moisture release plus the trusted cooling power of brrr° that immediately feels cool to the touch," he said in a statement.
The fabric also offers inherent UPF sun protection, a feature that matters for athletes and outdoor users who spend extended time in direct sun.
brrr° executives plan to show samples at the Functional Fabric Fair in New York City on July 8-9 at Booth #108. The company said brrr°X is available in multiple blends and constructions – interlock, jacquard, jersey, jersey mesh, pique, French terry, and dobby – sourced through its mill partners. Custom fabric development is also an option for large customers.
David Ludd, Global Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said the product targets a simple consumer need. "Consumers who are active want comfort more than anything else, and that means staying dry and cool," he said.
The launch extends brrr°'s existing cooling fabric business, which has supplied brands for more than a decade. The company did not disclose pricing or volume commitments from any specific customer.
