Bravo Store Systems partners with Entrupy to give pawnbrokers smartphone-based authentication for luxury goods, protecting margins and providing certificates of authenticity.
Bravo Store Systems partnered with Entrupy to give pawnbrokers a smartphone-based way to authenticate luxury goods before buying them, the companies said Tuesday.
The partnership makes Bravo the only pawn point-of-sale system integrated with Entrupy's authentication app. Staff can sign in on a smartphone, point the camera at an item, and receive a certificate of authenticity within minutes. No extra scanner or training is required.
Counterfeits in the secondhand luxury market have become sophisticated enough to fool even trained eyes, the companies said. The resale market is growing, and more high-value pieces are crossing pawn shop counters. One bad purchase can wipe out the profit from ten good ones, according to the press release.
"With Entrupy, they can authenticate a designer bag, a luxury watch, or a pair of designer shoes from a smartphone, then add that certificate right to the item's listing in Bravo," said Tally Mack, CEO of Bravo Store Systems. "That changes what a pawn shop can confidently buy and sell."
Vidyuth Srinivasan, co-founder and CEO of Entrupy, said the partnership brings authentication directly into the workflow pawnbrokers already use, helping them make more confident buying decisions and protecting margins.
Bravo customers get a discount when they sign up. The service is available now through Entrupy's website.
