Branch's new Flex model eliminates integration work for companies to embed earned wage access into scheduling and shift apps. With 54% of Labor Economy workers needing early pay, EWA becomes a standard benefit.
Branch, the workforce financial infrastructure company, now lets companies and platforms embed earned wage access directly into scheduling, shift management, and other workplace tools. The move expands on existing integrations with time-and-attendance and payroll systems, Branch said Tuesday in a press release.
The new capability rides on Branch's Flex model, which the company described as eliminating the integration work and engineering time that previously blocked wider deployment. "Embedding earned wage access into the workplace apps workers open every day can drive engagement, adoption and ongoing usage," CEO Atif Siddiqi said in the release. "These new configurations make that embedded experience far simpler to launch."
Branch also said workers enrolled in either its Core or Flex models can now get funds instantly to an existing debit card for a small fee, or within two business days at no cost. Core users can also move money instantly to the Branch app for free.
The appeal of on-demand pay is backed by data. A PYMNTS Intelligence report found that 54% of Labor Economy workers needed money before it was available to cover an essential expense in the previous 90 days. Sixteen percent faced that situation at least four times in the same window.
"On-demand pay aligns directly with what workers say matters most when bridging a shortfall: speed, immediate availability and the ability to solve a financial problem without asking for help," the report said.
Branch CFO Matt Peterson, in a March interview, framed the product as a shift in how pay cycles work. "There's a secular trend here where workers don't want to, and they shouldn't need to, wait two to three weeks to get paid," Peterson said. Giving workers earlier access to wages they have already earned, he added, helps them avoid high-interest credit card debt.
The company previously launched a solution in September 2025 that let businesses integrate fast payment options – including earned wage access, 1099 payouts, and paycard options – into their own platforms. In March, Branch integrated with Stripe's issuing service to let companies launch a digital wallet and debit card for worker payouts.
