Bouygues UK has been named preferred tenderer for Jersey's 47,500m² Overdale Acute Hospital, finalising terms to begin construction on the island's largest healthcare project.
Bouygues UK was selected as preferred tenderer for the Overdale Acute Hospital in Jersey in November 2025, the company and the New Hospital Facilities Partnership said. The contractor has since worked with NHFP to finalise commercial terms and prepare for construction.
The hospital will span an internal gross floor area of 47,500m². It will include an emergency department, six operating theatres, inpatient beds, critical care beds, and a dedicated women's and children's centre.
Bouygues UK will act as lead contractor, drawing on its experience in healthcare construction and its ability to manage logistics on an island with constrained supply chains, the company said. It added that mobilisation plans are in place and main construction works are set to commence.
For parent group Bouygues SA, listed on Euronext Paris, the contract adds to a U.K. order book that already contains several large hospital projects. The Jersey win extends its reach into Crown Dependency infrastructure, a market with distinct logistical challenges.
No completion date or contract value has been disclosed. Construction of acute hospitals of this scale typically takes three to four years.
